Mrs. Richardson's 2nd Grade Scholars
I am so excited to have you in my classroom this year. We are going to learn and share so much together. This first nine weeks will fly by, so let me tell you a little about what you will be doing.
In Reading, we will be using Reading Wonders to help explore a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. With this program we learn to listen to what we are hearing to pull out critical information such as nonfiction text features. We will also complete an author study. Our spelling will come directly from our Reading Wonders and will be reinforced daily by the materials we are using. We use Letterland to continue to develop our core phonics skills.
In Math, we are working with adding and subtracting to 100 and measurement. Students are using a variety of resources to practice these concepts. All students have access to Prodigy and Splash Learn at home. These are both excellent resource to help build math fluency.
In Writing, we are working on narrative writing.
In Science, our main topic this nine weeks is matter. Students are working on interactive notebooks for this unit.
In Social Studies, we are learning about government and community helpers.
We will also have a wonderful AMP team who rotate on a three day schedule currently.
